The Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire is looking for an engineer (ideally M2 or PhD) in Earth Sciences.

The aim of this contract will be to build a seismicity catalog from the available dataset, by implementing an “automatic” detection method on these dense seismic data acquired in the Rhône valley.

This work is part of the French-German DARE project, funded by the national research agencies ANR and DFG (2020-2023). This project focuses on the so-called site effects which correspond to the modification of the seismic motion by the local geological configuration and which can lead to considerable seismic amplifications.

The recruited person will be based at IRSN (Fontenay-aux-Roses) and will work mainly in collaboration with Bérénice Froment (seismology), Céline Gélis (seismology) and Yann Richet (Machine Learning) but also with some other partners of the project (ISTerre, University of Potsdam and GFZ and IPGP).

The contract will start in autumn 2022 for a period of 1 year. Applications should be accompanied by a cover letter and a CV and should be sent to Bérénice Froment before November 10, 2022.
