Earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides… France is no exception to these telluric phenomena. A group of researchers coordinated by the CNRS conducted an inventory of these phenomena, as well as a reflection on issues of warning, responsibility and commuication.
A press conference will be held on Tuesday 23 April 2019 from 15:00 to 17:00 at CNRS Headquarters in Paris. Will be present :
- Eric Humler, Scientific Asistant Director at the Institut national des sciences de l’Univers du CNRS, will present the origin of the project and the role of the CNRS.
- Jérôme Vergne, seismologist at the Institut de physique du globe de Strasbourg (CNRS/Université de Strasbourg), will review the seismicity and associated risks.
- Claude Jaupart, volcanologist at the Institut de physique du globe de Paris (CNRS/IPGP), will give an overview of volcanic and graviational phenomena and risks.
- Bertrand Delouis, seismologist at the Géoazur laboratory (CNRS/Université Nice Sophia Antipolis/IRS/Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur), will discuss criss situations.

This work has led the production of a book published by CNRS Editions : « Quand la Terre tremble. Séismes, éruptions volcaniques et glissements de terrain en France », in bookshops from 2 May 2019. 264 pages. 24€
